   The Bryansk State Agricultural Academy is a large center of agricultural education, science and culture in the southwest region of the Non-chernozem zone of Russia. 

   In 1980 the Bryansk Agricultural Institute was organized on the basis of the Kokino Agricultural College. In 1995 it got the status of the Academy.  

   The Bryansk State Agricultural Academy is an educational, research and production complex comprising Agro-ecological Institute, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Biotechnology, the Engineering Technological Faculty, the Faculty of Energetics and Land Reclamation, the Economics Faculty, the Bryansk Institute of Agribusiness Personnel Training, the Bryansk Mechanics and Technology College, the Experimental Farm "Kokino", the Kokino base of the All-Russian Horticulture Selection Institute, agricultural colleges in Trubchevsk,  Roslavl, Novozybkov. 

   The Academy plays the important role providing the regional agro-industrial complex with highly qualified specialists and scientific achievements. For its 25-year existence the Agricultural Academy has trained more than 10 000 specialists for different spheres of agriculture. 

   The Academy has 35 departments where 344 teachers work. There are 49 professors and 169 associate professors. Among scientists of the Academy there are 3 Honored Scientists of the Russian Federation, 7 Honored Workers of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, 18 full Members and Corresponding Members of State and Socio-Professional Academies. For last 5 years the scientists of the Bryansk State Agricultural Academy have received 36 patents, defended 13 theses for a Doctor's degree and 62 theses for a Candidate's degree. A lot of post-graduate students and students got grants of the President and the Government of the Russian Federation. and 169 associate professors. Among scientists of the Academy there are 3 Honored Scientists of the Russian Federation, 7 Honored Workers of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, 18 full Members and Corresponding Members of State and Socio-Professional Academies.    Classrooms and lecture-rooms of the Academy are equipped with up-to-date training aids, devices, simulators and equipment. There are about 100 specialized laboratories, the Center of Information Technologies, an experimental field, an autodrome, the training site for operating agricultural machinery, the horse sport center, a gymnasium, a stadium.  

    Much attention is given to students’ development. There are 13 groups of amateur activities. Far outside Bryansk The academic chorus, the Ensemble of Folk Song and Dance, the Folklore Ensemble "Gorlitsa" are well-known far from Bryansk. More than once they became winners of regional and All-Russia festivals of amateur activities. 

    14 sports sections with a horse-racing one work at the Academy.

    The International Students Sport Festival takes place in Kokino every year. Students from Russia, Belarus and Ukraine participate in it. There are 12 masters of sports and 63 candidates for master of sports, 354 first-grade sportsmen.

    Agreements about scientific and technical and cultural cooperation are concluded between the Bryansk State Agricultural Academy, the State Agroecological Academy (Ukraine, Zhytomir) and the Belarus State Agricultural Academy. Scientists, post-graduate students and students of these Academies take part in mutual Olympiads, scientific and practical conferences.

     Two years running a student from Germany passes the training at the Department of Foreign Languages and assists in spoken language training of students of the Bryansk State Agricultural Academy. Annually 6-8 students and 2-3 post-graduate students pass practice and training on farms and processing enterprises in Germany, Great Britain, the USA and France.
